Dr. Duane A. Kimmey, our Chief of Staff, joined the Lincolnway Animal Hospital team in February 2013. He grew up in Oberlin, Ohio and Riverview, Michigan and currently resides in Monee, Illinois. Dr. Kimmey did his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and graduated from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Dr. Kimmey also completed a 16-month small animal internship at Michigan Veterinary Specialist and Critical Care, which included rotations through medicine, surgery, critical care and emergency medicine.
Dr. Kimmey worked in and around the Detroit metropolitan area as an associate veterinarian before owning and operating Kimmey’s Mobile Veterinary Services. After providing relief services to the area, he went on to own and operate North Metro Veterinary Hospital in Detroit, MI from 2002-2009. He was also a freelance writer for the Detroit News from 2008-2009. He then relocated to Cary, IL to work with his classmate.
Dr. Kimmey's medical interests include surgery, especially orthopedics. He is certified in PennHIP, which is a procedure used to evaluate and determine hip laxity in the canine patient. Dr. Kimmey enjoys spending his free time playing chess, golf, scuba diving, water skiing and listening to live traditional jazz music. He also enjoys photography as well as spending time with his 11 year old beagle, Cinnamon, and his 11 year old orange tabby cat, P.V.
